What the inspection focuses on
Vegetation management around the home is the primary focus. Overhanging branches, dead vegetation, weeds and combustibles near the structure are typical items reviewed. The exact scope is set by the City of Oakland and can change year to year.
What you can do in advance
Clear gutters and roofs, trim vegetation back from the home, remove dead plant material, tidy storage against exterior walls and address obvious debris under decks. A home hardening assessment focuses on the structure itself and complements the vegetation review.
After the inspection
